There is a vast number of questions you can ask when you’re getting ready to lease a new vehicle you want. Some questions will exhibit to the dealer that you have no understanding of the fundamentals of a lease, and some will demonstrate to the dealer that you’ve done your research. If you don’t have the slightest understanding of car leasing you probably don’t even know what questions to ask, that’s not a problem. Here you will find important questions to ask before jumping into the many pieces of a lease agreement.

If you quiz the dealer and ask the right questions, you’ll be able to meticulously evaluate the lease deal. These questions will guide you when dealing with critical areas of the lease agreement and help you understand how to get a low monthly payment.

Question 1: What fees does the lease have?

Nearly all contracts have disposition and acquisition fees that can’t be negotiated out, but the security deposit might be able to be relinquished. If you’re looking to enhance your lease contract, you should always ask if some fees can be reduced or removed. In recent years, fees have been slowly increasing depending on the company, and while some fees are hard to remove it never hurts to investigate them.

Question 2: How many miles are included on the lease?

This is a great question to ask because, you don’t want to be in for an unpleasant surprise at the end of the lease. The dealer can charge you anywhere from 5-20 cents per mile that you exceed from the initial agreement. Sometimes the lease seems to good to be true, this is due to the fact that some leases include 10,000 miles a year, rather than the industry’s standard of 12,0000 miles. Make sure you ask for details.

Question 3: Are there any lease specials?

Most of the time, carmakers will offer discounted lease specials to improve the selling of a specific model of vehicle. These specials are a great opportunity for some immediate savings. There might be added expenses, so make sure you check the fine print of the lease ad. Occasionally the monthly payment does not incorporate fees, sales tax, and drive-off fees.
